Gender Identities in the Past and Present: Hatshepsut & Akhenaten – LGBTQ+ History Month Special Event

The Rethinking Sexology project and the Petrie Museum will be leading a discussion around gender identity focusing on depictions of the pharaohs Hatshepshut and Akhenaten in the ancient world and early twentieth-century attitudes to their allegedly ‘transgressive’ identities. We will also consider how these pharaohs might allow us to reflect on ideas about sexuality and gender identification in the present. Doors open 6pm, event starts at 6.30pm.
