‘Dangerous’ influences: in the archive with Radclyffe Hall – Being Human Festival

21st November 2016 @ 20:00 - 21:30

Free

What influences shape our sexuality? Can literature be a ‘dangerous’ influence? In 1928, Radclyffe Hall’s lesbian novel ‘The Well of Loneliness’ was banned as ‘obscene’ and described as a ‘danger’ to youth. This event will feature a short performance written by playwright Natalie McGrath that draws on University of Exeter lecturer Dr Jana Funke’s work on this writer. Join us for an interactive event that will offer a unique opportunity to explore and debate topical questions about sexuality, literary history, identity and community.

This event is part of Being Human Festival and University of Exeter’s series Voices From the Edge
