Rethinking Marriage: Theoretical and Policy Challenges

The “Rethinking Marriage: Theoretical and Policy Challenges” event being run jointly between the Gender Research Network and the FRS Network will be held in the afternoon on Wednesday 21st March. The confirmed speakers are:
- Professor Brian Heaphy (Sociology, Manchester, speaking on his research around marriage and formalised partnerships).
- Dr Zainab Navqi (Law, Birmingham, speaking on feminist theory and polyamory).
- Professor Rosemary Auchmuty (Law, Reading, speaking on feminist theory, sexuality, law on marriage and Civil Partnerships).
- Dr Susannah Cornwall (Theology and Religion, Exeter, speaking on the implications of intersex and transgender for theologies of marriage (which in England also has legal implications) and also on her recent work on theology and polyamory).
The exact format of the event is still TBC but will likely start with lunch at 13.30, then a 15 minute presentation from each speaker at 2pm, followed by Q &A and general discussion chaired by Professor Rebecca Probert.
